Discover the Stonehouse for NIH Researchers!
We’re a friendly couple (a journalist married to a medical school professor) living in the beautiful Stonehouse with five bedrooms and four baths that’s exclusively available to NIH researchers. We’re an affable community of biomedical scientists from around the world. This affords you a wonderful entrée to the United States for your research at NIH. You can share professional insights with colleagues and socialize as often as you like.
The Stonehouse is located in a quiet, safe, leafy green neighborhood with excellent access to the NIH. We offer whole house FIOS wireless internet that’s the fastest available in the Washington, DC area. The Stonehouse also provides whole house amenities, (kitchen, laundry and patio) along with bikes for your use. The lease is flexible to your timing.
What sets the Stonehouse apart from other NIH rental options is that we’re a true community of researchers from around the world! To date, we’ve hosted NIH post-docs and post-bacs and medical students from Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, China, Dubai, England, Germany, Greece, India, Italy, the Netherlands, Portugal, Scotland, Turkey and Wales. This results in fascinating conversations among talented investigators who support each other’s careers and socialize as time allows.
You’re welcome to join our French toast and fresh fruit brunches – great for NIH scientists new to the Washington area. Besides Stonehouse residents, these brunches include NIH researchers who live elsewhere in the DC region.
From the Stonehouse, you can walk to the Metro, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, coffee shops, restaurants, fitness clubs, movie theaters and many stores. Our neighborhood features basketball and tennis courts, a large regional park and a swimming pool. Best of all, the Stonehouse connects to a network of forested trails – including the Capital Crescent – that are great for runners and cyclists.
At the Stonehouse we believe in biomedical research and cater to the needs of NIH investigators in every possible way – starting with a home-cooked dinner when you first arrive.
